A few years ago, I bought a condo. I lived in it for a year and then rented it out. Can I deduct any expenses – cost of purchase, maintenance, legal fee, etc. – against my rental income?

Does Revenue Canada allows the proportionate deduction of condo fees for a home based business? For example, if I am using 10% per cent of my home for my business, can I deduct 10% of the condo fees?

My husband has inherited some money. Should we pay off the mortgage or invest in an RRSP? Or, should I pay off my mortgage, then remortgage and invest into my RRSP (to make the interest tax-deductible) and eliminate any outstanding high interest debt?
